Abstract

Checker fabrics - tartans are one of the oldest fashionable fabrics with rich history, versatile application and original in appearance. The paper describes their historical development and manufacturing methods. Types and tile most popular names of tartan cloths based on the geographical regions and application are described. Standard and abbreviated methods of warping by counting threads as well as marking and registering the colour sequence in relation to yarn number are explained. An original idea of using the design of tartan cloth in the computer in screen saver form is outlined. The function and application of such computer programs is explained in detail as well as the reason why it has been impossible to make a genuine “textile” screen saver until now. The textile method of recording warping and tartan weaving has been applied as a basic record of dynamic generating a fabric picture in the computer. Such an approach provides to the full extent that the load of memory and other computer resources are avoided. A computer program has been designed and composed which proves the correctness of the designed algorithms. The function of the program and its application has been explained.
