Abstract

Mechanical properties of different ultrasonically bonded polyurethane foils made on the ultrasonic welding machine were investigated. Ultrasonic bonding was carried out on double-layer foils, in longitudinal and cross direction, as well in diagonal direction. Using the KES-FB measuring system, properties of drawing, bending, shearing, compression and surface properties of the unwelded and seven different types of ultrasonic joints were investigated. The results obtained indicate that the bond made by ultrasonic welding greatly influence the mechanical properties of the polyuretahen foil. The significante changes of deformation work and elongation through tensile stresses of the investgated samples of the polyurethane foils are obtained. The obtained changes of the bending and shearing rigidity are smaller in relation to the samples of polyurethane foils without ultrasonic welding.
